31.08.2013 Ukrainian soybean market results of the season-2012/13, and prospects for 2013/14 MY
Soybean is one of those crops, which every year agrarians continues increasing their interest in the production, due to the high demand of both domestic consumers, and export-oriented companies. The reporting trend was also observed in the ending season-2012/13, which can rightly be called as the year of records - in the production, processing and exporting spheres. The first reporting record was reached in the beginning of the season, when Ukraine produced the maximum harvest of the oilseed in the country's history - 2.4 mln tonnes. It should be noted that in order to reach such results, Ukraine expanded the planted areas under the oilseed by 30%, compared with the previous year - to 1.48 mln ha. The yield was lower by 16% compared with 2011, and totaled 1.71 t/ha, due to adverse weather conditions.
